Slam Dunk

The year 2000 entered with a bang for animation here in the Philippines, many anime that was aired on this time greatly influenced and became popular for many reason and thus making the anime with so many chapters and was still being followed until today.

Art is definitely the big difference in the 2000 as it is modernized than the normal 1D graphic effect in drawing and was improved into 2D as an animation that's what movement were improves and the flickering of the eyes and postures of the characters can be seen clearly.

Storyline was the biggest influenced Filipinos can get in the anime that was aired on this decade, most stories are true and was done with animation in Japanese form instead of western animation.

We will now cite some examples of anime that greatly influenced us Filipinos from children to adult until today.

Slamdunk

The protagonist of the story is Hanamichi Sakuragi who's unfortunate in finding the right girl for him, he has been rejected 50 times in his first year in Shohoku High, suddenly out of nowhere he found out the girl of his dreams Haruko Akagi who is a big fan of basketball this was the start of Hanamichi of playing basketball, and at that same day Haruko was surprised that Hanamichi can handle the ball singlehanded with ease, this was the start of joining the Shohoku bastketball team wherein the captain of the basketball team was Haruko's older brother Takenori.

Why is it popular then? it is just a basic story of a basketball team in trying to earn a championship? As we all know Filipinos are a great basketball enthusiast we could see people playing basketball anywhere from streets blocks, under the bridge, inside a building even in the middle of the road, it is clearly that this anime had made its great impact by inspiring Filipinos the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi to work hard and put effort on everything not just basketball but for many things in life, also Sakuragi no just inspired ordinary citizen but PBA players as well example of this is Marc Pingris of the Philippine team he was inspired of Sakuragi in which he didnt have the skill but the heart to keep playing and overcome the challengers
